"Hearing Aid Not Working"

About: Vale of Leven General Hospital / Audiology

(as a service user),

I suffer from loss of hearing due to working in a noisy environment; as a result I wear 2 hearing aids. Recently my left hearing aid stopped working and I contacted the Audiology Department, who fitted me in to their first available appointment.

Having confirmed that the hearing aid was not repairable I was given a new one straightaway that was digitally set to match my hearing loss.

The staff were very efficient and friendly throughout and I had 2 working hearing aids again.

It concerns me the number of people I see not taking sensible precautions to protect their hearing in later life. For me and many of my contemporaries it's too late but younger people be they at work, listening to loud music through their ear pods in their cars, or at night clubs, please protect your hearing - loss of hearing is no fun, I assure you.

Dear GT49

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. I have forwarded this to my colleagues in Audiology at the Vale of Leven and they were delighted with your comments and that they were able to arrange a new hearing aid. Thanks for your advice regarding looking after your hearing, it is something we can take for granted.

Best wishes

Nicole
