"Attending the groups has helped me gain confidence"

Upon my arrival to Dame Carol Detox Service, I was seen by the Nurse in the front office.  They breathalysed me, I had to stay in my room for the 1st day. They connected my tablet to the internet, so I could watch films on it. I had some food brought up to me. I was constantly being checked on to make sure I was okay. I was clear to come out my room by 10pm. However, by this time I decided to go to bed.  

The next morning I come down for breakfast, I was provided with medication from the Nurse who checked my blood pressure and carried out an ECG. I met some of the other residents, we had a vape in the garden and started to get to know them, they were all good as gold and made me feel at ease, which took away my anxiety.  All the staff have been brilliant which made me feel less anxious as well.

I enjoyed all the groups, in particular meditation, which I will continue to do once I leave here. Attending the groups has helped me gain confidence; I will look to attend more groups once I return home. 

Everything here is brilliant including the staff.  Nice food and nice ensuite bathroom.  Shower has been brilliant.  

I spend a lot of my time in groups or watching TV with other residents.
