"The support offered falls way short"

About: Shawpark Resource Centre

(as a service user),

It took social work 6 months to decide that 3 hours' care per week would be sufficient to cope with all the added needs of having terminal bone cancer. As the cancer is predominantly spinal, the limitations and pain are rather significant. As it is terminal, the emotional turmoil is rather significant.

As it is Shawpark Resource Centre making the decision, the support offered is, in standing with their other decisions regards support for me I have experienced, rather significant in its falling way short of anything that could scratch the support needed for someone with diagnosis of terminal bone cancer. Given the short life expectancy and time Shawpark will take, I will likely be dead before they deal with my appeal.

Dear ERDD

I am very sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis and I can’t begin to imagine what you are going through. It is disappointing about the lack of support you have received at this difficult time. I have shared your feedback with the staff at Shawpark Resource Centre and they have asked if you could contact the Social Work Team Lead on 0141 451 2730 to discuss this further.

There are other organisations that may be able to offer you additional support and advice:

Maggie’s - www.maggies.org/our-centres/maggies-glasgow/

Macmillan - www.macmillan.org.uk/

Thank you

Nicole
