About: WestMARC (Lanarkshire) / Adult Wheelchair Clinic

(as the patient),

I attended WestMARC at unit 33 in Fern Street, Motherwell to be assessed for the use of a powered wheelchair. I am a double amputee and have grip problems in both hands.

I was seen almost immediately by Brian, who put me at ease from the outset. He gave me a comprehensive run-down on electric wheelchairs in general, then introduced me to the type of wheelchair I would use. I was then transferred to the wheelchair, and Brian put me through a test showing great patience and encouragement throughout. (even when I ran into a wall)

A rewarding experience!

I have also attended the WestMARC prosthetic facility at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus, which was also a rewarding experience.

Dear Toland, many thanks for taking the time to post your comments on Care Opinion. I am so glad to read that you had such a positive experience whilst working with Brian and gaining your confidence to maneuver the power chair safely. I can only imagine what an immense relief this would have been for you to build your confidence and made to feel at ease. I am delighted you felt supported and communicated to and that nothing was too much trouble.
