"Birth of our daughter"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Maternity care South West Acute Hospital / Treatment Room Service Western Health & Social Care Trust / Community Midwifery Services

(as a relative),

My wife had an elective Caesarian section which proved to have incurred difficulties in surgery.

The staff were fantastic with reassuring us throughout the operation. Thankfully obstacles were overcome, wife and baby are doing very well.
The care my wife received in the coming days whilst in hospital was fantastic, nothing was too much bother for any of the staff, they went above and beyond to ensure she was a comfortable as possible throughout and even more so when another issue reared its head a day or 2 after surgery.
Even down to the very community midwives who are still tending to my wife by calling to the house to redress and assess wounds from a genetic skin condition 11 days after baby was born.
The tissue viability nurse has also been giving guidance on how to treat these wounds and look after any further wounds.
Our experience was amazing with all the staff, each and every one is worth their weight in gold. I don’t believe they receive enough credit for the jobs they do and the experience they share to remain attentive and reassuring at all times.

Dear falconnt96

Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely response on the care you received.

I am sorry to hear that your wife had some difficulties post surgery. I am glad that she is still receiving care and that hopefully the situation will soon be rectified and she will continue to make a good recovery.

It is so lovely to hear such positive feedback and that you describe the experience you received as 'fantastic'. I will certainly pass this onto the staff.

I wish you, your wife and your baby the very best.

Many thanks

Kind Regards

Mairead McKenna

Dear Falconnt96

Thank you for taking the time to provide the team with feedback.

It is wonderful for all the staff to hear and get recognised when they have been providing such a good standard of care. I am sorry to hear that it hasn't been all smooth postnatally, but delighted to hear that your wife and you continue to be well supported.

I will ensure this positive feedback is shared with the wider team.

Congratulations again on the arrival of your baby and best wishes for the future for your family.

Regards

Good Evening Falconnt96,

Congratulations to you and your family and thank you very much for taking the time to write such a lovely review of the care received.

I am sorry that the immediate postnatal period posed some difficulties for your wife, however I am delighted that recovery to date has improved.

It is lovely for staff to hear that the care they provide has been so well received and that you felt well supported. I will ensure to share all your comments with the Community Midwifery and wider Maternity team.

Thanks again and I would like to wish you and your family my very best wishes.

Regards
