I started therapy, desperate for help as a family member had been an addict for 27 years. I was angry, worn out and depressed but fortunately, was given a therapist called Sheena for 12 sessions: She really helped me think more logically and go from being an "enabler" to being more of a parent that was there to support and love, not give or be at the addicts beck and call. The penny dropped when I realised that setting boundaries was also for me... whereby I had always thought it was for the addict only.
I have gone from being in high anxious state, to much calmer. I feel I am in a better position to accept things for what they are, and adopt more self care, even though I know the likelihood of the family member, may not change, I am better equipped to mentally deal with things . Thank you all
