My husband was admitted with an ulcerative colitis flare. The care he received was good but could have been improved if there was continuity of carer. The majority of staff that provided care for him were bank or agency workers. This in itself is not a problem, however they were not all fully aware of his patient journey and care plan, they did all show care and compassion and happy to make him a cuppa! My husband has to have a colectomy soon. He was seen by the stoma nurse who was excellent and informative. On the day he was discharged,he was cared for by Nurse Strain, who was fantastic and entertaining to boot. He has made him feel confident that his quality of life will be much better with a stoma. Well done everyone. Thanks.
