"The bathrooms need mirrors"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Coronary Care

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

My experience on CCU has been dead on. The staff are all dead on and always a good bit of craic – I like to keep them going! They always explain things well to me. The ward itself has been clean and comfortable and the food has been dead on as well.

The only thing I can see regarding improvements would be that there are no mirrors in the bathrooms which makes shaving incredibly difficult.

Good Morning,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience from staying in Coronary Care.

We are delighted to hear that your experience has been a positive one. I am pleased to hear that staff have communicated very well with you throughout your admission - We strive to include our patients with their care and ensure they know what is happening every step of the way.

I understand how frustrating it must be not to have mirrors in the bathroom. However this is to ensure the safety of patients whom could be at high risk of self harm. There are a number of handheld mirror available on the ward so if you need a mirror for shaving, please do not hesitate to ask the staff on the ward and they will supply you with one.

We are so privileged to have a job where we can care for people and make a difference.

I will ensure the team are all aware of your kind words - we really appreciate them.

Thank you again and Best Wishes, Patricia.

Following on from your story, our team have been in contact with Estates Services Department who are planning to erect shatter proof mirrors in areas identified.

Kind regards
