It was Christmas 2019 and my mum had become unwell almost on arriving with us. It became quickly apparent she wanted & needed residential care. I am a social worker & immediately went into "mode" discovering that the care home minutes from my house carried incredible scores from the Care Inspectorate. I got in the car, went there and found Pauline, on her day off, supporting her colleagues and warmly welcoming me to talk about mum. That first incredible impression held strong and true for the three years mum was in Dalweem. The Dalweem team are family. Literally, one member is related to the next etc etc. They care for their aunties, grannies, next door neighbours, ex- school teachers, shop keepers. That enormous sense of community and pride in the strength of close bonds elevates Dalweem above and beyond. It permeates far and wide in the tender care of residents, the maintenance of the building, the careful consideration of activities, the cleanliness (no smell here), the detail of laundry etc. I know the name of every staff member and they know not only my name but where I live, what I do, who is in my family. When mum was at end of life I felt I was held in an unbreakable embrace. Mum and I were so beautifully cared for, loved and supported. Guys, you are The Best!! Big love xxx
