Surgery for replacement implants and scar review from breast cancer.
My first operation was in May 2021 and the care I received from beginning to end was excellent, from the nurses, doctors and anaesthetist they all explained what was going to happen every step of the way. This gave me confidence in their ability to get the job done effectively but they also joked with me which helped to put me at ease.
When I arrived at the Surgical Elective Unit in Antrim Area Hospital the nurses greeted me with a smile and took me straight through for my preliminary checks which were thorough and extensive. They checked that I knew everything I needed to know and joked and told me stories about themselves that put me at ease.
The theatre staff were amazing they joked with each other and me which made the environment a lot less scary while remaining professional.
Overall the treatment I received was excellent, professional with a personal touch thrown in. Each professional I came in contact with made me feel that I was the most important person at that moment in time and that they would work hard for the best outcome for me.
The only things I would change would be for staff to tell patients not to use the toilet on arrival and for the heating to be turned down a little.
