"My time in childrens HDU Aberdeen"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / High Dependancy Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

I have spent a week in HDU with my 8 year old daughter who is receiving chemotherapy.

All of the doctors and nurses have been great and I have felt in good hands.

In particular Tom and Cara. Cara has made me feel confident with everything that is happening and been lovely company which has made our time here much easier.

One evening I was feeling particularly anxious and when I told Tom he stayed with me to chat and reassure my worries. I felt much better afterwards and it is exactly what I needed in that moment.

The support we have received during this round of chemotherapy has been fantastic.

Dear giraffecx34,

Thanks so much for taking the time to post such lovely feedback at what must have been an extremely stressful time for your family. I hope that your daughter is feeling better and beginning to recover from her chemo.

It means such a lot to the staff to hear directly from children and families that they make such a difference and I will make sure this is shared with them. Especially Tom and Cara who went over and above to ensure you and your daughter received excellent nursing care.

Thank you again and wishing your daughter a trouble free treatment journey and recovery.
