"Breastfeeding advice"

About: Children’s Services / Health Visiting

(as a parent/guardian),

I was in a lot of pain breastfeeding with blisters, bleeding and blocked ducts all because my baby’s latch was all wrong. I know the benefits are so good for breastfed baby and gut health, so I continued feeding with the pain using Sheilds.

I got an appointment with Nicola the breastfeeding consultant and she was excellent straight away and had me feeding my baby pain free.

It makes breastfeeding a joy again.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment here and I am delighted you are still able to continue to breast feed despite your initial issues and that our Lactation Lead Nicola was able to provide you with this sensitive, valuable advice and support.

Many Mothers do not find Breast feeding as easy as they may expect and it can be challenging but as you have found this early support, advice and guidance it has enabled you to carry on and provide for you and your child all the benefits breast feeding can offer. I wish you continued success with breast feeding.
