My lung condition is called Non Specific Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis.
I was diagnosed 2020.
My shortness of breath was a big drawback to my daily living, I’d lost 40percent of my lung function. Climbing stairs or hills was a killer, also aerobic exercise.
I had been a very active person, gave up my exercise classes as I felt I was too tired.
Forth Valley respiratory nurses enrolled me in their get active classes at the Peak in Stirling. There along with other fellow patients with chronic lung conditions, we were introduced to a 6 week program of exercise, tailored to our rehabilitation.
I must say that I have benefited so much from the exercises and the education given on breathing control, medications available, benefits, both financially and any help from the Stirling carers group.
The nurses from Forth Valley Royal were both knowledgeable and very supportive
I hope this service continues, I’m truly grateful.
I am now motivated to join an exercise program that the Peak are offering with support from the staff.
