I have had a pain in my lower side area for roughly 4 months now. However, last Saturday night I was in excruciating pain as it had spread to my lower spine. I had previously had cancer in my spine 12 years ago so this was an automatic concern and I was rushed in an ambulance to CAH. I was moved to AMU ward yesterday and after a delay in scans due to the bank holiday,
The doctor came around to tell me bad news. I am not complaining about where I am located despite it being very open as I have direct access to the main desk, however, when receiving bad news it is not fair to have people around you being able to hear it also.
Equally, I have no interest in hearing results regarding other patients. I think this is quite a significant issue as it almost breaks confidentiality. My wife was there when we received the news and wanted to go somewhere more private as she also felt very uncomfortable. I’m not sure how you could overcome this issue, but maybe simply having a designated room for results or some more sound proof system in the more open bays. Other than that, I couldn’t fault the care, the food or the hygiene.
