"Excellent care"

About: Neurology / Ward 23A - Neuromedicine

(as a relative),

I wanted to provide some feedback to the staff in ward 23a the recent care of my mother-in-law.

My mother-in-law was transferred to ward 23a for ongoing care and management of her pre-existing neurological condition. It was a very worrying time for my mother-in-law's family and friends, especially my husband and his sisters as we were given a difficult prognosis. We wanted to express our deepest thanks to the staff in ward 23a for the care my mother-in-law received while being on the ward. The staff nurses, student nurses and healthcare assistants who were all so friendly and very attentive to her, with a special thanks to Kirsty the staff nurse who ensured that she was not in any pain and treated her with dignity and respect (sorry I can’t remember everyone’s names but you were all lovely and an asset to the ward).

We also wanted to give a special thanks to the neurologist and palliative care medical team in ward 23a, from the registrars to consultants. With it being such a stressful and worrying time we found that this was eased slightly by receiving regular updates from the medical team with how my mother-in-law was doing and what the next plans were, we really appreciated the time you took to update us regularly. A special thank you to Dr Buchanan, my mother-in-law's named consultant, who took the time to explain in detail everything that was going on and took the time to answer all of our many questions and put our mind at ease. We never felt rushed off the phone or that there wasn’t enough time to talk to us, which made a huge difference for us so thank you.

As a nurse myself I understand first hand how busy and stretched everyone is at the moment and the pressures on the NHS and those working within it, and I feel not enough good feedback is given, and it’s so important. So I just wanted to thank you all for the care you gave to my mother-in-law and that your care has impacted us all in a positive at, especially my mother-in-law. Thank you again.

Thank you Luna Lou for taking the time to advise us of your mother in laws experience whilst an inpatient on ward 23A.

I will ensure all involved in her care are aware of your kind words. It is always lovely to receive positive feedback and it means so much to the teams involved to know they are providing a high standard of care to both patients and their families at what is often a very difficult time for you all.

Thank you once again for taking the time to feedback and I wish you well.

Thank you Luna Lou for taking the time out to give ward 23a and the palliative care team this lovely feedback. The team work hard to provide a high standard of care and I am thrilled to feed this back to the whole team. Kirsty in particular is very touched by her special mention, and we are pleased that your mother in law and family had a positive experience on the ward despite it being a being a difficult time.
