"Poor staff attitude"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Medical Ambulatory Care

(as a service user),

On my admission to Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit in April I was very anxious awaiting scan results and blood results. I had to explain my symptoms to the junior doctor on call  twice as they answered their phone about other patients.  I fully understand but I do think you need another doctor in SACU to help out.   I felt sorry for the one doctor trying to multi task, take calls and give out results .

Secondly I am deeply disgusted and disappointed at the derogatory comments being made from two staff regarding the endoscopy service. I think it would be beneficial for those staff to visit endoscopy to see what is actually done there.  Other patients in turn could be afraid to come to endoscopy as a result of their comments. We are all supposed to be a team but degrading other staff in front  of patients not knowing who is behind the curtains is not acceptable and I left feeling very angry and disappointed !

Dear NC29,

Thank you for taking time to feedback on your experience in SACU at University Hospital Wishaw.

We are sorry to hear of your experience both with our junior doctor and the 2 nurses discussing endoscopy. Waiting for your results must have been a worrying time for you.

We always want to make things better for our patients, and we take your comments seriously. Your feedback will be shared with the teams for learning and improvement.

Should you wish to raise this further it would be helpful if you could contact our Patient Affairs so they can understand the issues in more detail.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
