I had the unfortunate need to attend LVH urgent care centre at Easter following a fall at the weekend. I had initially tried to treat the injury myself but as it got worse and the pain increased I decided to have it checked out.
The LVH now has a phone first system whereby a patient wishing to attend phones ahead to be triaged by a medic and is then given an appointment to be seen if this is the most appropriate place to be treated. The phone lines were very busy given that it was Easter and GP's were not open, but I spoke to a very pleasant young lady who took my details and passed me onto a Dr for triage.
I was given an appointment to attend and on arrival to LVH had a short wait before I was seen by a Nurse called Mark, who put me at ease and reassured me that things would be sorted out as soon as possible. He examined me and ordered X-rays and then came back to let me know what the X-rays determined. I was treated very courteously and respect by everyone in the department. Luckily I hadn’t done too much damage and was treated and sent home.
The new phone first triage system worked well for me. I had prompt treatment and a very good experience attending the department. The only thing that could be improved is more staff on reception. Many thanks for all your care and professionalism.
