My son was taken into hospital on the Saturday of a bank holiday weekend with a chest infection. He really wasn't very well bless him and as he needs a lot of things like C pap and feeds (for he is peg fed) I was unable to bring any toys with me.
The nurses and doctors were great and looked after him very well but he was unable to have any toys to play with that were suitable for his age as there wasn't a play specialist on the ward until Tuesday due to the bank holiday! Also there were no books available until Tuesday. This wasn't a great experience for my son and myself as it is difficult being stuck in a tiny room with nothing but the TV to help us pass time and to help cheer him up to help him feel better. We were disappointed that no toys, books were available until Tuesday.
It would be great if there was a play specialist available everyday of the week as you don't choose when you are ill and need to be in hospital.
