My Mother attended Hairmyres Hospital as she experienced issues with her breathing, chest pains and sore arm on at the end of March at approximately 3:00 am.
On arrival my Mother was taken by a lovely nurse Caroline to start the triage process. Caroline's approach to the support she offered my Mother made her feel a lot more at ease and talked my Mother through all the processes and tests which she was undertaking.
Nurse Caroline continued to support my Mother from A&E triage through to be supported by the other Nurses within the A&E department.
Nurse Flecture and Nurse Hannah were extremely attentive with my Mother and again talked her through all the processes, tasks and tests which were being undertaken. The Nurses allowed me to remain with my Mother through the majority of the process within A&E and only asked me to wait within another area to ensure my Mothers dignity was intact when undertaking observations.
The A&E department as it potentially is most was nights was extremely busy with others requiring support. I think its important to highlight though this was the case my Mother was not rushed and was made to feel at ease, comfortable can have confidence within the Hospital.
I'm happy to advise my Mother is now Home after spending 11 nights in Hairmyres Hospital, has cleared her infection and now on course of medication which should sustain her independence with living at home.
Thank you to all the staff who work within the Hospital as I'm sure there will be more NHS staff who contributed to my Mothers A&E experience.
"Attentive and helpful staff in A&E"
