"Employment with a mental illness"

About: Adult Mental Health Community / IPS Future's Positive - County

(as a service user),

I experienced a psychotic episode in 2021. My employer at the time, as I had just begun my job, was considering on whether to support me with my absence or not. That is when Andrew the Employment Specialist intervened and helped me step by step with support through the decision making process.

I was able to put my reasons forward to why Employment will help with my mental illness and my recovery. Andrew provided me ongoing support as I eased myself back into work, problem solved any issues I was experiencing and reassurance that I was doing a good job.

I have spent a number of months utilising Andrew, and now have come to a position where I am able to exit the service and work independently. However, I do know while I am with the EIP team and Employment Specialist Team I can access the service again.

I manage a team of employment specialists which is attached to Mansfield, Ashfield and Newark& Sherwood LMHT. the service supports the service users to seek suitable job opportunities by offering intense support that is responsive to individuals' strenghts, skills abilities and percieved barriers and follows this with time unlimited on job support to help sustian employment. provides employment support, careers advise and guidance to the service users who are under the care of AMH.
