I recently had a consultation with my GP, as part of this I described my deteriorating mental health. My GP contacted City South LMHT. City South LMHT copied me into their reply to my GP’s request for a consultation for me, in which they stated that they did not consider that they could help me.
I do not understand this! I have heard voices for over 40 years and they have become very loud and demeaning since reading this letter. In addition, having experienced several mental health traumas in my life, the indifference to my plight is jaw-dropping and gut-wrenching!!
On top on what I was feeling, I now feel more confused, demoralised, marginalised and my coping mechanism for this is self-harm. So, thanks a lot City South LMHT, next time you reject a referral, think carefully about copying the letter to the patient, as to me it feels very much like a rejection of me as a person and a rejection of my mental health problems - as a cry wolf response.
Your letter made me feel very alone, scared and extremely anxious. I am already depressed, so it hasn’t helped me in that respect either! I note you have a new CEO - if I could, I would copy them into this message, as the CQC’s latest assessment of this organisation as requires improvement is, in my case, woefully inadequate.
