"Impossible to see a doctor"

About: Brook Medical Centre

I am writing a review on behalf of my parents who are too upset and frustrated by this "medical" practice. My dad is in his late 80's and my mum in her mid to late 70's. In almost 6 years, my dad has been seen once by a dr at this place, and only because he forced the issue. He is on constant medication for epilepsy as well as having several other medical issues, and yet no reviews, follow ups or treatments is ever offered. My mum in the last few years has experienced numerous medical issues and still they refuse to treat or see her. Only the other day she called at 8am as they are told to do to as being the only way to get an appointment. At 8am she was told she was caller 12 in the queue. By 8:15 the automated message said all appointments were now gone for the day and to call back tomorrow!!!! Are you telling me they only have less than 12 appointments per day?!! Today she had to go in to provide a sample for a nurse. 3 hours later they call back and to quote"you have an infection, we are providing a prescription, good bye" and the phone was put down!! Wow!! Where is the care and attention?! The phone was put down before my mum could say or ask anything. Due to the nature of the issue and several other issues my mum is experiencing, she called back to make an appointment with a dr. To be told they only have 1 dr now and he is on annual leave!!!! This dr is on annual leave more than he's at work. So my mum asked to see a locum to be told they have 1 who works from home but there are no appointments this week!!!! Its Tuesday and there are zero appointments with a dr who only works from home. So no chance of physically seeing someone which has been the issue for years now. I understand during covid, but now?!! On the one occasion my mum did see a dr in the last few years despite numerous requests to do so, she went in with pain and swelling to her knee which had been like that for months (not days, months). The dr was wearing hospital scrubs (in a GP practice) and at no point did he even look at, or touch her knee!!! Needless to say she was told to ice it and see if it gets better. Its already been months so not sure how that will help. My parents are left feeling like they are too old and an inconvenience and that they don't matter. Great patient care. There are other negatives I could add, but I'm running out of characters to explain how bad they actually are. Time to find a new practice and someone who actually cares about the patient, wants to treat them and actually see them. Enough is enough!!!
