We brought my daughter into A&E due to a fever and pain in her leg. From the minute we arrived, it was obvious we were in great hands. From the Nurses to the Dr’s, everyone acted quickly to ensure she got the best treatment and was seen to as soon as possible, from getting an x ray to getting her cannula in, everyone was lovely.
We were then moved onto the Children’s Ward whist we awaited her diagnosis. She was diagnosed with iGas and we were immediately moved to a side room. The nurses on the ward were fantastic with their care for my daughter. A special shout-out to Student Nurses Caitlin and Niamh and a nurse called Jessica. They really engaged with us and nothing was too much hassle, they got our daughter talking (she is very shy and in particular never having been to the GP for anything never mind a hospital) and got her smiling. Could not fault the staff at all.
The physios were great, and Alistair in particular, who had to see our daughter get upset every time he entered the room (her knee was in a lot of pain and she knew he would make her move it) and showed her pictures of his dogs to cheer her up.
If I was to pick a fault with anything, the only thing I would say is that I was quite surprised at how infrequently the bedding is changed, especially when you’re dealing with infections and blood.
Overall very happy with how we were looked after and the staff can’t be praised enough.
