My daughter, who is an adult, has been very ill with stomach pain and a High Rising Epiglottis, which prevents her eating anything but thin clear liquids, she has frequent episodes of choking and dysphagia and loss of weight.
She was referred to the Transnasal Endoscopy Clinic, however as she has multiple medical issues, she couldn't attend the appointment. This is the only clinic which if you don't accept the appointment they give you, even with a valid reason, they discharge and refer back to the GP.
I phoned the Outpatients Appointments and was told that an appointment was available and they would hold it to await GP ref. An appointment was received by letter without even calling to ask if suitable. So another appointment lost.
I have never come across any clinic which doesn't take into consideration patient's needs and other appointments. This system doesn't work. Furthermore with the letter for today's appt there were no instructions given. My daughter is worsening by the day and needs a suitable appointment which takes into consideration her multiple other appointments. Your system is broken!
