I’m sorry to say that my whole experience with Let’s Talk Wellbeing Nottingham has been the very opposite of the help I’d sought. Rather than leaving me feeling listened to, with the mechanisms to ease my symptoms, the therapist accentuated the problem.
I ended my run of sessions more unwell than when they began (which, was many months after being almost in crisis). I found the therapist to have little warmth, would say one thing one week and then deny that they had said so the next (which was unhelpful given that I had been in an emotionally abusive relationship where my partner had also done this very maddening thing).
Their notes were inaccurate and they spent much of each session just feeding these back to me (which I know is necessary in review sessions). This recounting of all the painful feelings (with inaccuracies - despite corrections from me) and little in the way of helpful therapy just led to feelings of the negative notes being affirmed in my head rather than challenged.
I felt very much like I was just a name on a checklist for the day and because I didn’t fit neatly into the criteria that they wanted to work to, I felt like I was a problem that they wanted to be rid of, rather than a human in pain who needed help. My discharge notes were also inaccurate/false, but I was left so drained that I never challenged them.
There’s so much more than the above which I could add about this awful experience.
In short, it’s had an ongoing negative impact. In addition to the original issues which still persist.
"More harm than good"
