"Staff took great care of our 9 yr boy with a greenstick fracture"

About: Heatherwood Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics NHS 111

(as a parent/guardian),

Attended Heatherwood Minor Injuries Unit in Ascot today with our boy where an X-Ray revealed a fracture after an injury playing football at school. All the staff were fantastic and helpful, the one observation we would make is that the unit did feel a little understaffed though we would always prefer to use Heatherwood for minor injuries than travel to St Peters (Wexham Park is out of the question). One other thing I called 111 to see whether they had info on waiting times for A&E depts as our child was in quite some distress and they weren't immediately aware of Heatherwood as an option.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your positive feedback on your recent experience at our Minor Injuries Unit at Heatherwood Hospital, following your son's accident.

We will ensure that your comments regarding the staffing levels are shared with the Lead Nurse for that area. We will also try to find out whether the details for Heatherwood's Minor Injuries Unit can be made more apparent when people call the 111 service.

Your comments will be shared with the team, which will undoubtedly be gratefully received. We hope that your son is making a good recovery.
