"GP Experience about mental health"

About: Hillside Bridge Branch Surgery

(as the patient),

I had a telephone appointment with my doctors surgery recently, the appointment was booked in for 2.50pm but by time I received a call back it was half 4 therefore I had reschedule my work pattern as result

No call from the surgery to say they are running late again had to chase myself a wait time of 15 minutes of queuing before getting a receptionist to answer the phone.

The appointment was about my mental health struggles as I was supposed to have a review on my current anxiety medication 45mg Mirtazapine which has been not effective and not working for me.

Once again to no surprise I felt I was dealt with a very dismissive approach by my doctor and was told to continue to take medication that has not been effective for my mental health. Also that I should use mind.org which I have repeatedly used over the last few months.

I asked to be referred for psyicatatric support and was told they cannot do this and will need to do a my wellbeing referral again, knowing I was discharged from them in January after 1hr 20minute telephone assessment by the community mental health team Bradford teaching foundation on the basis I speak well on the phone.

This is a stigma I deal with on a daily basis and feel as soon as I open my mouth my health conditions are dismissed based on the way I can communicate on the phone.

I have decided to change my doctor surgery this morning but am at all time low mentally and physically ultimately lost faith in the whole NHS system.

With a heavy heart it saddens me to say reaching out for the services has left my far worse off then before
