Anything else?
I have been visiting the John van Geest unit at Stamford on and off since January. All i can say is that it has been improving more and more with every visit. The staff communicate well. They remainin professional but keep the care very personal and don't turn robotic. The ward staff have a high level of knowledge and are very caring and compassionate. the parking can be a little tricky at times, but it is free parking which is always a bonus. the staff try to plan care needs around visiting times so it is usually uninterrupted but then have been free to discuss my relatives care needs or answer questions when I am there. the ward is secure as it is often locked requiring a member of staff to come and let me in which helped them to keep an eye on who was in the building. we also had a 'password' set up, so I could discuss my relative over the phone. I had no concerns over the comfort, safety or dignity of any of my relatives whilst they stayed at the John Van Geest unit, and would happily recommend anyone else needing treatment to go there. they served a wide variety of hot meals every day, which was very varied. One suggestion I can think of, is if the catering staff could figure out a solution to deliver hot toast, as my relative always said the butter hadn't melted into it. Apart from that from the ward manager, to the doctors, care staff, porters, housekeepers, And receptionists I cannot thank you enough. with all the negative publicity that hospitals are currently receiving, can I just say that that ward is one poppy in a field of wheat. Also this website asks me to select a department for which I am talking about, however the John van geest unit isn't on it, that is what I am referring to.
"Very impressed at level of care"
