In 2018 my sons addiction caused a lot of worry, friction, unhappiness , anger from all members of the family and frustration as, at the beginning we didn't know who to turn to for help. As time went on through Googling, Doctors, Psychiatrists, and counselling he started getting help but I found we really had to push for it.
I got in touch with No Limits and my son worked with the drugs and alcohol team, for a while this worked but as with everything else my son cancelled appointments due to self denial. PSL was recommended by no limits as they could see I needed support. Nicky phoned each week to support me, I was then diagnosed with anxiety and depression so was prescribed meds for this, Nicky visited our home for family counselling but my husband and son didn't respond very well with it. Nicky carried on supporting me and eventually I attended the wellbeing courses and group meetings which helped me immensely enabling me to deal with our situation at home in a rational manner hence helping with my mental health. From where we were 5 years ago till now our family life is not so volatile and my son is trying to control his addictive nature.
