Amazing service, fantastic treatment from Denise, made me feel at ease and taught me so much about my pelvic health in which i did not know being in my late 30s how did i not know this information?

Was referred after a bad tear during childbirth in which i was seen very quickly demonstrating how good the service is running. I come away from each appointment feeling confident and happy and i wish every woman can have access to this service before and after childbirth as it is unacceptable as a woman to not know about my own anatomy and how to properly look after my muscles.

Moving forward for the future in my opinion there needs to be more information out there it should be routinely taught to woman for example classes for all woman not just for postnatal patients so we can be educated and be able to ask for advice  i am sure this would mean more funding for these services however it is much needed in this day and age as woman we should not have to put up with pelvic problems and just have to accept that its a “woman thing”.

Dear Hapck99

My name is Siobhan McIlroy, and I am the Head of Patient Experience. NHS Fife welcomes all feedback, so thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. I am sorry for the delay in you receiving a response.

I am pleased to hear that you received fantastic treatment from Denise, and she made you feel at ease. I am glad she was able to provide you with lots of information about pelvic health. Sometimes you don't know what you don't. I'm sure many people out there would be surprised by what Denise can tell them about their pelvic floor.

It must have been very painful to have a bad tear and difficult to cope with, along with trying to look after yourself and a new baby! I am sure the service will be delighted to get your excellent feedback, and they will be very interested in your suggestions about pelvic education for all. Having a urology background as a nurse, I agree that it should never be accepted as just the norm and a "woman thing".

I will ensure your post is forwarded to the service. Keep up with your exercises, and all the best. Take care, Siobhan.

Dear Hapck99,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on care opinion and apologies for the delay in my response.

I am delighted to hear not only of your appreciation for Denise's therapy and advise but also that you came away from each session feeing confident and happy. Pelvic health is a specialist area of Physiotherapy and we run with a small team. The Physiotherapists are all passionate about their field and their interventions can often make a huge difference to an individual's quality of life, however it is very rewarding to receive direct, postive, patient feedback; thank you.

I support your suggestion of additional funding and we do actively seek opportunities to increase our capacity and promote pelvic health awaremess for women and men.

I will be delighted to share your feedback with Denise and the team and I know they would want me to wish you well and hope that you are still managing to continue with your pelvic floor exercises.

Kind regards

Karen
