Despite NHS services being totally stretched, we are so lucky to have access to the Sick Kids' Hospital in Edinburgh!!
I walked into A&E with my 5-week-old baby, who developed difficulty breathing and fever. A&E was packed - I have never seen it so crowded before! We were red flagged and seen quickly and the nurses were so reassuring and productive despite the pressures put on them.
Thank you to the amazing nurses/Drs who looked after us on Castle Mey Ward- You’re doing such an amazing job and we are lucky to have you.
Understandably, no under 5s are allowed on the ward, but there’s an amazing space in outpatients on the ground floor that I was able to spend time with my 2-year-old whilst dad spent time with baby on the ward.
We were also introduced to THE HUB, where they offer tea and coffee and there’s activities /singing etc for the kids and he was even able to choose a book to take home with him.
"You’re doing such an amazing job and we are lucky to have you"
