"Very poor service"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

Following a lengthy period in hospital where I was catheterised; the catheter was removed by a SASH@home nurse last Wednesday morning. Following severe discomfort I requested that it should be replaced the following day but this was refused and in response I was discharged from SASH@home.

Inevitably I have become very unwell and contacted 111 who advised that I return to hospital.

Dear elephantcx86,

Thank you for writing about your experience and I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service received. It is important that we receive feedback like this to help support ongoing improvements.

Your concerns will be raised to the SASH@Home service management team to look into the details further. It is very important for us to be able to deliver the same high quality service we offer within the hospital to our patients outside the hospital particularly at times where the hospital is under high demand levels and it is important to reduce hospital visits where possible.

I hope that despite this experience you were able to subsequently receive the care you need and are now in a better place with your recovery.

Best wishes.
