"The support I received was greatly appreciated"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Cancer Services

(as the patient),

I was a chemotherapy first timer! I felt overwhelmed when I received my diagnosis. On my way home after my first chemotherapy session I had slight discomfort that wasn't mentioned on the side effect list. On reflection, I panicked a bit and was worried that something wasn't right. Pippa, the specialist nurse, phoned back and she reassured me, gave me information about what to do and what could be done if the symptoms persisted or if I was still concerned. Everything was resolved quickly so no longer worried and the support I received was greatly appreciated.

Dear happypatient.

I cannot be sure which Pippa is your CNS as there are 3 of us in cancer services!, But, on behalf of all of us, your feedback is so gratefully received and helps us know that we are doing the right thing. I am so pleased that you felt reassured by the advice you received, having Chemotherapy is a difficult time and anything that specialist nurses can do to make your experience a little but better is so important. Your feedback can also help to reassure other patients, facing chemotherapy, that there is support and advice available when needed.

I would like to hope that you will continue to feel supported throughout your chemotherapy treatment.
