"In constant pain with my foot"

About: Community Services - North Devon / Podiatry

(as the patient),

I am at the end of my tether and don’t know what to do really. For over 25 years I have been attending this foot clinic and quite a while back I went for my routine appointment. After doing what they normally do I explained that I was having some considerable pain in between my little toe and the one next to it. I was told I had a corn there, I remarked that I thought that was unusual and was told it was but was given something to treat it. It did not work.

In November I went to get my nails cut at the clinic and explained I was still in a lot of pain to the point where I was having trouble walking and even wearing cotton bed socks was uncomfortable let alone shoes. I was told I had an infection, and it was dressed.

Six appointments later and I am still in the same position, I am in agony. I don’t know what to do next at my last appointment I spoke with the nurses again and asked for their advice but there was no one senior available for them to ask and they didn’t seem to know the solution either. I was told at one point it was because my shoes were ‘too old’ to which I told them it was the only pair that I could manage to hobble to the appointment in! I am very cross, upset and just want them to do something so the pain stops. I have another appointment soon but I am not sure it is worth going anymore!

falconhe63 I was very sorry to read your story and hear that you are still in pain.

As a service we always welcome feedback from our patients so we can improve the care we provide.

I would like to see what we can do to resolve the problem you have raised regarding your foot. As we don't have contact details for you from your message, can please I ask you to make contact with myself, so I can arrange a senior clinician to review you.

In order to arrange this it would be very helpful if you could make contact with myself before your next appointment. I look forward to hearing from you.
