"Great care in the Emergency department"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Acute Medical Admissions Unit Dr Gray's Hospital / Emergency Medicine

(as a relative),

My mother is in her seventies and was admitted to ED for a medical admission by her clinic’s nurse practitioner. On arrival it was obvious that the department was extremely busy.  The main concern while waiting was that my mother, who had a temperature, was very cold while waiting in the waiting area. The reception team did provide a blanket when we asked for one.

After a wait, she was called through and initially seen by a junior doctor who planned her care and her care was taken over by nurse Andrew, who provided the best care and understanding to a niggled and scared pensioner.

My mother was later transferred to AMAU and the care she received was second to none.

As a family we can not thank Andrew and the staff on AMAU at a particularly busy time in the NHS, keep up the great work, you are all a credit to Dr Gray’s hospital.

Hello

Many thanks for your kind message. I am delighted to read about the care your mother received whilst in ED and then in AMAU.

I am glad that an additional blanket was provided when she needed it most and that she received good care despite the Emergency Department being so busy.

Our teams always strive to deliver person centred care and sounds like this was the case during your Mother's stay.

Andrew will be delighted to hear the impact his care had on your Mother and the reassurance that this gave to you as a family.

I will ensure that your thanks and kind words are shared with the teams.

With thanks and best wishes.

Fiona
