"Access to x-rays"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I had an accident, my mum said I had best get this checked out as I have problem in my face. I fell over and smacked my face which left it stilghty swollen. My nose was bleeding and some marks around it.

My hand got injured as i fell down, I went up to A+E and waited to be seen. the staff were nice and helpful. Then doctor came was nice, treated me ok, what got me was I got no xrays just to be sure there no fracture. I have had fractures before and they missed them. The doctor only had small look touch my sore bits said not swollen which it was - other people saw this. i felt like it was to get rid of me fast.  I am in pain and I still cant move this. I dont have faith in this department as they missed my injuries before. I feel very low. That's my story .

Dear minniemoo

I'm sorry to hear of your recent accident and injury to face and hand. I am glad that the staff were friendly but I note that there are aspects of your care which you are concerned about - in particular concerns that no X-Rays were taken. I cannot comment on your attendance but if you are worried that you have a missed injury please re-present to the Emergency Department for review - All return patients are reviewed by a senior doctor.

Thank-you for taking the time to feedback

Yours Sincerely

Dr Andrew J Kinnon
