"Lack of concern and empathy"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Arrived via 999 ambulance with difficulties breathing and central chest pain. In the emergency department, nursing staff were rude, abrupt and I felt treated as an inconvenience. I was left in pain and told to stop making a fuss as there were people sicker than me.

Dear Maarwh76

I want to thank you for sharing your story with us and would like to apologise for your experience. This is certainly not the experience we want for our patients. Whilst our A&E Departments are extremely busy this does not excuse the behaviour you describe. In order to look into this matter, could you contact our Complaints Department (complaints@ggc.scot.nhs.uk) where your details can be provided and allow our team to investigate.

Regards

John
