At the end of January I was sent to A&E at Altnagalvin Hospital and I was admitted for an infection in my leg. The staff in A&E were amazing and I couldn’t fault any of them.
I was then transferred to Ward 4, where I was admitted by a nurse named Dermutt, who was very welcoming and kind. I stayed here for 3 weeks in total while the infection cleared up and the doctors tried to get my INR under control (unsuccessfully).
All the staff from Ward 4 were amazing - from the doctors to the cleaners and everyone in between. I will never be able to thank them enough for the care they gave me. I would love to give them all the individual recognition they deserve, but I both fear I would forget someone and I wouldn’t have enough room to write all their names.
Even when they were short staffed, the ward manager chipped in and did obs. They are like a family, and that is how they treated me. So one final time, thank you Ward 4, the best ward I have ever been on.
"The best ward I have ever been on"
