"Thank you for protecting vulnerable people"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service

(as the patient),

I called 999 this morning due to chest symptoms. The paramedic arrived wearing an FFP3 mask (as was I). I thanked him for wearing it, as I have vulnerable family members and we are trying to keep Covid out of our home. But I thought it was worth writing here as well, to say a sincere thank you to him and the NIAS for protecting vulnerable people (and your staff too). It means a lot.

Please supply these masks to all paramedics and indeed all healthcare workers, for infection control. Studies show that they are effective at reducing transmission of Covid, and other contagious diseases since as flu and TB. They could save the NHS far more than they cost.

Dear greenans02,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. As an organisation we are committed to consistently show compassion, professionalism and respect for the patients we care for and feedback such as this will lift the morale of the paramedic involved in what is a challenging period. Please be assured that infection prevention and control will remain a priority for the Service. I wish you the best with your recovery.

Best wishes

Neil
