They were really lovely. The nurse was amazing, so nice and caring, and when I told her I was very nervous of blood tests she did it without me feeling a thing. I mean literally not feeling a thing! It shows that's how it can be done when someone takes the time and effort. She also offered to make me tea and toast as it was very early.
I was shocked as I've been very open about what an awful experience I had on the ward - surgical ward 5c at The Ulster Hospital - where even something as simple as tea and toast was refused after major bowel surgery.
This staff member was so kind. The anaesthetist was also so informative, friendly and took his time to cover all questions that I had.
This is how you expect nursing and medical staff to be and they were great. A really positive experience. All of the experiences (apart from ward 5C) have been great actually from chemo to day surgery-they couldn't have been nicer.
"Very positive experience at pre-op assessment"
