"An amazing team"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

A year ago my son attended the A&E dept of the QEUH Glasgow with a suspected torsion. His treatment and care at that time was exemplary and he was told if he ever had the same issues again , not to hesitate in going back to A&E as in this condition it is important to be seen quickly .

This morning he recognised the same pain and tell tale signs that this was happening again . On arriving at the A&E dept and giving his details at reception, he was soon called and was seen by a lovely triage nurse Nicola who listened to him , gave him pain relief and took more details .

He was then examined by Dr  Shiels who was very thorough and reassuring but felt that my son needed to be seen by the on call urologist to see what was going on. The urologist Claudia was so lovely and was explaining to my son everything that she was doing as she carried out the ultrasound. After quite a bit of manipulation of sorts , he was feeling much better and discharged with antibiotics and reassured again that he’d done the right thing in attending A&E again.

Despite it being quite a delicate matter to a young man , everyone was very professional and put my son at ease at all times and yet again , the service and care he received from everyone today was just outstanding.

The A&E department are always under so much pressure and scrutiny ,but you cannot fault the professionalism and dedication of the staff who work there … they are all amazing.

Dear Murph14

Thank you for getting in touch and providing such lovely and positive feedback.

I am delighted to hear that your son received such a high standard of person centred care at a time that he must have been very worried and frightened. I will ensure that all staff are aware of your kind feedback, especially Dr Shiels and Nicola.

I hope your son is now recovering, please give him our get well wishes and thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback which is so important to us.

Best wishes

Linda
