"Under pressure"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / General Surgery

(as a service user),

I took an infection in my wound after surgery, I was admitted into hospital,  although I cannot fault the treatment, I don't understand how it is ok for three patients to be put into a two bedded ward, I had no privacy when I was examined as there was no curtain around my bed.

Tracey McGuigan, Lead Nurse SEC

Thank you for your story on your recent hospital admission.

Sincere apologies' that your experience was not a positive one.

Due to extreme pressure on hospital beds & an over crowded ED, wards have to take up to 4 extra patients to alleviate the pressure. This is not the care we endeavor to deliver to our patients. The safety, dignity & privacy of our patients is paramount & this is being compromised due to pressures. Mobile screens are in use at ward level but due to increased numbers of extra patients there is insufficient.

I am sorry your privacy & dignity was no protected.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Tracey
