"Paediatric care for my son"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Dunvegan Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

Had to take my son to RHCYP ED on Saturday and then to Dunvegan ward. We had been assessed in Urgent care centre in Fife first. Arrived in ED at 21:00 and he had been assessed and up in ward before 23:00. Completely efficient and professional staff. Everyone put him at the centre of the care being delivered. Always spoke directly with him, and put him at ease. Every single member of staff was kind, caring and friendly. Just wanted to say thanks.

Thank you Victoria for your lovely positive comments, I will share them with the ward staff.

It is nice to hear that the transition between assessment in ED and admission into Dunvegan was a smooth and efficient one for you both. In times of anxiety and stress, when your child is unwell, these little things make all the difference to your overall experience

We are committed to ensuring that care is centred around the Patients and families, this ensures an individual approach to how we get to know your child and communicate within the ward. 'What matters to you' (the patient) is an important part of our care, which on this occasion has been recognised as an effective tool within the admission process.

I hope your son is now fully recovered.
