"Outstanding Care Given at the PRM"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as a service user),

I write to give an account of the fantastic care experience I received at the PRM. I delivered a baby girl via an elective c-section at the beginning of December 2022. All of my antenatal and postnatal care was given to me by the Princess Royal Maternity team. I have an underlying medical condition so my care was consultant led by Dr Mathers. From the start of my pregnancy, Dr Mathers took time to reassure me and prepare myself and my husband for our antenatal and postnatal experience.

I also regularly saw midwives at the clinic all the staff were exceptional but especially Midwife Ruth, who I saw on several occasions. As an anxious first-time mum, Ruth was always smiling, caring, compassionate and thoughtful. I was also under the care of the physiotherapy team, I have to mention Emily and Deborah, the acupuncture I received during pregnancy was incredible, importantly without this care, I think I may have struggled to walk at the end of my pregnancy.

I also have to mention two anaesthetists that I saw Dr Sisk and Dr Capek, for being so understanding and taking the time to explain our options for delivery and what was going to happen next. On the morning of my operation, I was met by midwife Mathieson, she was so calm and reassuring as she took me down to have my operation. When I woke up in labour ward, the staff were so friendly and helpful. All of the staff who looked after me provided me with the most fantastic positive experience of delivery, despite having a general anaesthetic. The aftercare was also fantastic by all of the midwives and care assistants in ward 73 and maternity assessment.

I will never be able to show how grateful I am for the care myself and my baby received.. Our family are in awe of the care given to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all staff at the PRM for the most outstanding care.
