"When you’re in extreme agony but no one can help you"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Gastroenterology Raigmore Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

A year ago I had a positive FIT  (Faecal Immunochemical Test) test of 160, this led to me being referred for an urgent colonoscopy (I was in my late twenties at the time), I didn’t have any symptoms besides just got over a bug.

3 months after the colonoscopy I came down with some nasty symptoms like being sick and my intestines feel like they’ll pop from the abdomen area. I’m coughing up phlegm constantly and burping, my intestines make constant growling sounds and feel tender and sore. I get breathlessness and have the odd spikes in blood pressure and oesophagus spasms, every day is a fight.

I had an endoscopy which was normal but can’t help but feel something has changed since the last colonoscopy with my intestines. Would this even be possible? I honestly am traumatised by this, I can’t sleep due to pain, I’ve turned up at a&e begging for help due to pain, I just hope my mental health conditions haven’t been mistaken for my physical symptoms as very much struggling, just would like to get to the bottom of my symptoms :(

I just wish I knew what it was. I lost my ability eat (what started with intolerance to heat, and panic attacks which were made worse when in a moving vehicle, and I’ll get tinnitus, headaches, new eye floaters, all my bloods are good as on dietary shakes.

There’s just no where to go when in constant pain, if I go to a&e they say there’s nothing they can do and need to see specialists. If I go to GP they've already made a referral, I want to lay off pressure of the services, I just want a solution to the issues I currently am experiencing.

I have developed sexual problems on top including swollen lymph nodes in my groin and sciatica pain down my leg, can this all be linked?

I just wish there was a gastroenterologist who can reassure me that nothing is going on because the symptoms feel so painful and affect my whole life and it feels too real to be just anxiety.

I’ve literally asked so many people and not found one person with similar symptoms as me which makes me even more worried. The positive FIT test doesn’t happen for no reason, would a CT of the abdomen pick up any abnormalities perhaps?

I just don’t have the power to ask gastroenterologist for another appointment and scared I’ll be kept at bottom of list.

Where do you go when you’re in extreme agony but no one can help you?
