Anything else?
I have been quite happy with this hospital until my recent visits. Earlier last year I was sent to hospital with suspected kidney infection and glandular fever. After receiving IV antibiotics, Glandular fever was quickly ruled out and I was treated for kidney infection. I was discharged still with blood in my urine and very strong antibiotics. I had informed my GP practice and the hospital that my father had passed away with kidney problems but I wasn't sure the exact diagnosis. Tests have been ongoing and a kidney stone was found. After 8 months of pain they decided to remove the kidney stone. After 3 months I went back to Urology and was seen by a registrar who just kept saying 'but you feel a little better now the kidney stone is removed'. I obviously said yes but even just sitting in the chair was uncomfortable as I told him. I told him that I had the kidney stone at home in a tube and he still had to check my notes to see if the stone had been sent for analysis (even I knew the answer to that - I have it at home). This appointment did not give me any faith in this registrar. It was followed up with an ultrasound on Friday 28th June. I am still waiting for the results. I have now had a copy of my fathers death certificate sent to me and the diagnosis was Iga Nephropathy (kidney disease). I spoke with my GP and was told I had nothing to worry about and to wait for the results of my ultrasound and then make an appointment to see my GP. I can only say that this gives me no faith at all with the people I am having to deal with and should my pain increase, I will attend A&E with a copy of my fathers death certificate to see if I can get better answers, unless what happened to my father happens to me, then my family can have the joy of suing the NHS Service.
