From the start had a lovely warm welcome from Lee and Carol, the nurses who lead the unit. It is a lifeline once you are discharged, where you can chat about your experiences initially and difficulties over a cup of tea on arrival the value of which can't be given.
There is a talk after that on anything from dietician to pharmacy, all of which I have found useful and informative. Relaxation is given after a delicious 3 course meal, which is wonderful. The relaxation takes away most of your physical aches and pains, and more importantly your mental issues. The alternative therapies (art group, massage, writer) definitely have equal importance to the medications and their benefits are wide reaching. Neal, Donna (fabulous artists), Emily (wondeful writer), and Kerry (fabulous massage therapist) all encourage us not to do their visions, but our own which is huge.
They guide very gently when necessary but the completed works are very much our own to pass to our families and this is priceless. The entire Day Unit, along with the newer addition of The Drop In Centre which I love as it continues to allow me to touch base and with my art comes from love and you feel that in every person involved. Roseanne and Ann are nurse and volunteer also attached to the unit and they couldn't be more lovely either. I can only say positives as have never come across a negative.
"I can only say positives"
