"Grant and stairlift - I cannot get this resolved"

About: Isle of Wight Council

(as the patient),

I was due my third stairlift after my disability progressed and my then present lift was condemned. I applied for and was approved for grant in December 2021. As it was a grant I could not choose which of the 3 quotes to accept.  I placed the order January 2022.  I heard nothing and in May the Council who approved the grant rang me to see what was happening and then rang the stairlift company who had ‘forgotten’ the order.

In August 2022 they arrived to install. After ripping out the old lift they then decided that the new lift might not fit because of 2 water pipes at the foot of the stairs. These were present at the 3 times they surveyed for the lift!

Further, they could not get the remotes to work and upon phoning their office were told  that they knew there was a problem with the software and they would have to return later when this is solved!

They left me with no working lift and no one contacted me for 14 weeks until I contacted the Council!

It is now February 2023. I cannot get this resolved. It is left that I must get the pipes re-routed via the upstairs wet room up to the ceiling and down the upper wall of the stairs so that this lift can be moved and re fitted again.

It has already been moved and adjusted three times and the carpet is ruined. They have left it almost in the middle of the stairs and is still not useable.

I fell downstairs at Christmas and now have even less mobility.  As yet no one is willing to help.  I have asked for it to be removed and they will not do that either!
