About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

Thank you to administrations at the Western General Edinburgh.

I was overdue a routine 5 year colonoscopy and with short notice ( a week) was offered the opportunity to go to Queen Margaret Hospital. Dunfermline, first thing (Sunday) morning, great. It was well organised, friendly, quick and thorough, no pressure to have sedation so was able to drive home, having no after effects from the procedure.

The bonus for me was free parking and coming from Edinburgh it was quicker than crossing the town to get to the Western General. Thank you to all the staff for their efforts in keeping us alive. I’m sure if I’d waited for an Edinburgh appointment, I could have been stopped for drunk driving, if spotted constantly swerving/weaving, in, out and around potholes taking a circuitous route avoiding roadwork congestion, not that there appears to be much work in relation to zoned off sections of oor toon.

Dear Happychappyalive,

Many thanks for your kind words regarding your recent visit to our Regional Endoscopy Unit at Queen Margaret Hospital.

I am glad you were pleased that you were given a Sunday appointment very promptly and found your journey throughout your admission with us well organised and the staff friendly and having taken advantage of the Entonox and its benefits been able to drive yourself home.

I will pass on your kind words to the team.

kind regards

Update posted by Happychappyalive (the patient)

Hi. All correct apart from the Entonox, which wasn’t required either. Having been sliced and diced in 2004 I have less bends and about 500mm shorter makes it painless and all without a colostomy pack. The section worked perfectly with me negative after effects, thanks to the surgeon and team at the Western General.
