My hospital experience at Daisy Hill Hospital began in the Emergency Department. I have a serious condition and I was glad that the doctor quickly assessed me alongside involvement of the consultant which I appreciated. I was given my appropriate medication which was assessed and revised accordingly.
I was then moved up onto Female Medical. I have to say I feel extremely safe on the ward. The nurses all know about my condition. I really couldn't fault the medical consultant - he has been 10/10.
The staff all have a caring attitude and all have a great awareness of the condition of patients. I really would like to commend the ward sister and all the nurses. I really hope Daisy Hill Hospital is saved from any further nonsense as it really is a great hospital and great asset to the community. I really want Daisy Hill to retain its care pathways for cardiac care, strokes and time dependent medical issues. However, there remains a severe lack of resources across the NHS.
I really feel that a patient forum to give feedback needs to be developed so that doctors can hear the invaluable experience of patients.
When it comes to the food it has been fine. There has been a good selection, however there is not much for those who would be vegetarian. The food is both warm and appetising.
All the staff are incredibly pleasant and every last nurse involved in my care has been brilliant. I would like to specifically mention nurses Susan, Olivia and Kate. Night nurse Carmel was especially good as she picked up VT in my sleep.
I think it is really important that the staff are payed more as they really do need more motivation. They need to know that they are doing well. I just want to say I value what they are doing and I feel that it creates a caring atmosphere by telling them that.
